Venice is the queen.
There are no adequate words to describe it.
Nietzsche, the philosopher, wrote: ‘If I had to look for a word to replace “music”, I could only think of Venice’.

And the visitor, whether just passing through, is definitely and inevitably enraptured by its beauty, its monuments, its works of art, its ‘music’.

Piazza San Marco, the heart of the city, an important urban and architectural complex, is named after the famous Basilica, the “Golden Basilica”, named for its glittering mosaics, surmounted by five Byzantine domes.
The vast space opens up towards the lagoon on one side and is bordered on the other by the tall Campanile and the prestigious historical palaces of the Procuratie Vecchie e Nuove and the Palazzo Ducale.

Not far away, the elegant Ponte dei Sospiri is a must on the romantic gondola ride that traditionally goes up the Canal Grande, the city’s main waterway, which is crossed by the Ponte di Rialto, one of the city’s liveliest and most curious sights.

Venice is to be experienced on foot, forgetting the map and directions, getting lost in the tangle of calli, in the ups and downs of bridges, to discover the treasures of the baroque Madonna della Salute, of the Gallerie dell’Accademia which host masterpieces by Venetian painters from the 14th to the 18th century and the Scuola di San Rocco, with the extraordinary cycle of paintings by Tintoretto.
